Greater Chicago Sitecore User Group Co-Organizer
The Greater Chicago area has historically been served by a single Sitecore User Group, managed exclusively by a Sitecore partner, which does not currently accept community speaking submissions. The Greater Chicago Sitecore User Group (GCSUG) aims to change that by providing a platform that represents the entire Chicago Sitecore community, regardless of affiliation. As passionate Sitecorians, we believe in fostering an inclusive environment where everyone has the opportunity to share their experi...
Symposium Nashville Food Tour
What started as a simple Pizza Tour during the 2022 Chicago Symposium has grown into an annual foodie adventure! In 2023, we spiced things up in Minneapolis at North America SUGCON with the legendary Juicy Lucy (that ooey-gooey cheese-stuffed burger, for the uninitiated). This year, we took it to Nashville, where our 20-person walking tour indulged in hors d'oeuvres, BBQ, pizza, and, of course, the city’s iconic Nashville Hot Chicken. 🔥
As always, the event was packed with technical MVPs, b...
Managed Cloud PaaS 2.0: Custom Domain Configuration
Managed Cloud PaaS 2.0 introduces a Hub and Spoke architecture that is very different from previous iterations of Sitecore's PaaS implementations. Supporting a client's implementation requires an Azure Administrator or higher certification with specific experience in Azure Front Door and Azure Application Gateway to complete the task of configuring a custom domain for said customer. This Stack Exchange post highlights my learnings from the investigation into this issue and my hope is that the ...
Sitecore XM Sitecore XPHeadless SUG: Unlocking True Composability with GraphQL Federation
One of the biggest challenges with implementing an enterprise-grade site for a customer is integrating that site with backend systems. Sitecore provides one option in Sitecore Connect. This talk explores the idea of using a GraphQL Supergraph as a one-stop-shop for all content to be served up on a site.

The Sitecore Developer Relation team started a project to redesign the SUGCON Europe site for the 2024 conference. We started on this project at the end of 2023 and had a goal of launching before the conference in April 2024. Our team consisted of developers and architects from Sitecore partners. I served as lead architect. My roles were DevOps support, Storybook education, setup and deployment, local environment / Docker support and component development. The was a fun project and I was re...
Sitecore XM CloudNuget Transitive Dependencies
My team ran into a fairly significant time-sink when upgrading a Visual Studio solution from 10.3.0 support to 10.3.1. Between releases, something happened with the way transitive dependencies are referenced. Our workaround was to identify all of those dependencies and manually reference them within the project. This was something new that we've never seen with Sitecore's packages and several MVPs have asked about this 'feature' in Slack.

Sitecore Stack Exchange Q/A: CLI Authorization Error
I ran into a fairly common but ambiguous issue using the Sitecore CLI for installing content in Azure environments. The error message was: "You are not authorized to perform the task you are attempting". There are a lot of reasons why a developer might get this error and I provided clear troubleshooting and configuration guidance if others run into the same problem.
Sitecore XM Sitecore XPSUG Cheesebabies Part Deaux - Minneapolis
Organized, promoted and executed the second-annual Sitecore Community Food tour named SUG Cheesebabies Part Deaux in Minneapolis Minnesota. I worked with Sitecore and SUG teams to establish a date for this tour. Once we had a date, I was able to evaluate and select a tour operator and work with them to establish transportation, pricing, venues, amenities and timing. After the logistical challenges were ironed out, I leaned on the Sitecore Community to help market and promote the event. This ...
Fireside Podcast: How Headless fits into the Composable Roadmap
This was a great discussion with Thomas Desmond, Developer Advocate as Sitecore, where we talked about how Headless fits into the Composable Architecture. This is a challenging topic to cover with clients and prospective clients, so it's really important to define the terminology first and then highlight the improved ability to deliver on the client's business goals in addition to the numerous technological improvements that come along with headless.

SearchStax: Partner Excellence Award
My team won a partner excellence award for the work that we did with our mutual customer, Nixon Peabody. We leveraged Sitecore's composable architecture to implement a search provider in only 3 weeks. The customer was very happy with the results and the overall Sitecore implementation stabilized after this add-on.
Sitecore Headless Starter Kit
I've created a Headless Starter Kit that's based on the XM topology and includes the SXA module by default. Originally the idea behind this starter kit was to provide Helix best practices. Now that we know that Helix is a less-than-desirable pattern for Headless projects, this will continue to be updated for traditional PaaS implementations.
